From the moment you walk in, the welcoming vibe of the place makes you feel right at home. The interior is cozy yet lively, with a nautical theme that brings the essence of the Gulf Coast indoors. The restaurant’s casual, comfortable environment is ideal for families, date nights, or groups of friends looking to enjoy some good food and conversation.

When it comes to the menu, the oysters are undeniably the star of the show. Whether you prefer them raw, grilled, or charbroiled, Half Shell Oyster House serves them up fresh and packed with flavor. For those who love a bit of heat, the charbroiled oysters, topped with a blend of Parmesan, garlic, and butter, offer the perfect balance of richness and spice. The raw oysters, served with fresh lemon and hot sauce, are a must-try for anyone seeking the true taste of the Gulf.

If you’re not in the mood for oysters, the rest of the menu is equally impressive. The fried shrimp are crispy and flavorful, while the seafood gumbo is rich and hearty, full of tender shrimp, sausage, and a thick, flavorful broth. For those who want something a little lighter, the shrimp and grits is a fan favorite, with perfectly cooked shrimp over creamy, buttery grits that create a satisfying combination of textures and flavors.

What People's Say About Place

Our lunch was one of the best we had on our month-long trip to Florida and Mississippi. We had charbroiled oysters as an appetizer and they were incredible. I also had the redfish and my husband had the French Dip. We shared my side, a sweet potato crème brûlée, which served as a delicious dessert for us. Kat, our server, was awesome. She was very friendly and provided impeccable service. It was a wonderful dining experience!

Definitely the best restaurant in Biloxi. Oysters are good. Fried crab claws are a standout. Seafood pasta is good. The orleans redfish was good. The sweet potato crème brulee is excellent. The salads and crab cakes could use some improvement. The old building and the interior are beautiful and I love the vibe.

If you’re in Biloxi and even remotely like oysters, Half Shell Oyster House is a must. First of all, the oyster dishes here are on another level. You absolutely have to try at least one (or several) of their oyster options. What really sets this place apart is the sauces—they’re clearly not an afterthought. Each oyster dish comes with its own unique sauce, and you can tell a lot of care went into balancing flavors. Rich, buttery, savory, and perfectly seasoned without overpowering the oysters themselves. We also ordered steak, and honestly, it exceeded expectations. The steak was cooked well and flavorful on its own, but the real surprise was the steak sauce. It wasn’t just a generic sauce on the side—it added depth and character and elevated the whole dish. You don’t usually remember steak sauce after a meal, but this one actually stood out. The menu overall feels polished and thoughtfully designed, especially for a place that’s well-known for oysters. You can tell they take pride in their food, not just their reputation. One tip: there are multiple Half Shell Oyster House locations in Biloxi, including one inside the Hard Rock Hotel and a few nearby. The food quality is consistent, so I’d recommend choosing a less crowded location if you want a more relaxed dining experience. Same great food, less waiting, and a calmer vibe. All in all, this is one of those places where you leave already thinking about what you’ll order next time—especially the oysters.

This place was fantastic! We had a group of at least 24 people, and that could be a nightmare on both fronts. However, the service was outstanding, we had Vincent, who was very personable and on top of it. However, what started the evening was Wayne preparing multiple tables for this insanely large group that I was a part of. He was professional and happy to accommodate us. The food was brought out very timely and it was delicious. There was not one complaint with anyone from this large group. Thank you to all the servers because we know what a nightmare it could be trying to satisfy a large group like this, but y’all were awesome.

Food was amazing, but waitress wasn’t nice to us. == Dozen raw oysters : Oysters were so fresh and plump! Best part was that we had no sand in all of our oysters. Seafood pasta : Sauce was delicious, but the noodles were a little overcooked which made the whole dish very mushy and cloyed Blackened fish : Can do without, wasn’t memorable Crabcakes : A must order! We enjoyed this dish the most but be careful of crab shells == We brought the “free starters” coupon from the marathon and I guess the waitress thought we weren’t paying customers (only wanted free food and water). We started our order with oysters for appetizers, but instead of writing it down she used her pen to poke at the “starters” section, as if she thought we wanted to order oysters with the free coupon. We were so confused with her gesture. She stood there, no words, used the pen and started pointing. Her attitude only improved after we ordered more food.

My only complaint. Waiter forgot my cup of gumbo or got too busy to bring to thr table. Otherwise, the meal was exceptional. My wife has shellfish, nut and gluten severe allergies and she ate her blackened fish with no issues.

Service was great. Food was good and it's in walking distance to the casino. Nice spot for date night or ladies night. I only had the crab cake and it was good.

This is absolutely one of my favorite places to go for date night. My husband and I started off with some Peach bourbon Old Fashioned, the starter was sauteed crab claws in Cajun butter, and our Main Course was Seafood Pasta
